" I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of drought and flooding rains,
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me."
-- Dorothea Mackellar OBE
I LOVE MY COUNTRY!
The second stanza, of Dorothea Mackellar's poem,
describes Australia so exquisitely.
As Queensland faces such terrible devastation at the hands these terrible floods, I am constantly reminded and moved - by the news reports, and by the growing social media attention - of the generosity of spirit and charity that is shared.
We are living in extraordinary times and we are surrounded by extraordinary people - whether we know it or not - these people shape our lives and help us to grow, and continue to learn, and prosper, and sometimes... just plain, continue.
Last year, I was blessed with some amazing people helping me in ways I will never be able to repay - and I will be FOREVER thankful.
I know I seem to push a lot of charities sometimes, but I firmly believe in giving - It is something that was instilled in me from a young age, by my extraordinary father.
There are so many people and animals needing help right now.
It makes me truly proud to be an Australian, hearing such brave stories & watching our nation's spirit & support amidst such disaster & hardship.
PLEASE DONATE! As when the water clears, there will be so many in need... And even though they will never be able to repay you, I guarantee you, they will be FOREVER grateful for the love and support.
