Moon Festival

Flip will be performing with The Next Step at the Moon Festival, 4th September 2011.

Last year, a record breaking 90,000 people came out in force to celebrate Fairfield City Council's Cabramatta Moon Festival.

The Moon Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival, is the second most important festival in the Chinese calendar, after the Chinese New Year Festival, with it's beginnings dating more than 3,000 years during the Zhou Dynasty.

The festival is recognised as one of Sydney’s largest Asian celebrations. People from all parts of Sydney and different cultural backgrounds take part to celebrate the ancient Moon Festival tradition. Click here to learn more about the Legend of the Moon Festival.

The Backroom

SEXY SUNDAY JAM has found a new home on a Sunday night.

Channelling New York,
we're taking up a residency at
THE BACKROOM, in Sydney.

Sealed behind a misleading fa├žade lies a basement bar like no other. Transplanted facades and sets creating niche spaces and intimate experiences. Working with iconic perspectives and references from the past, THE BACKROOM is a venue designed for only those, aware of its existence.

Check out the Backroom's  website or facebook & come along to see the magic; Live musicians, Tappers, Rappers, Singers & Dancers. Join the  experience and join the JAM - EVERY SUNDAY.

Shoes that bloom

The Dutch footwear brand OAT Shoes fully acknowledges that trying to be environmentally responsible can sometimes be difficult for the fashion conscious. “Choosing green often means having to make concessions on appearance, functionality, price or convenience,”  their website asks “Do you look at style and comfort, or ethical implications?”
OAT wants to make it so you don’t have to decide between the two.
You can feel comfortable knowing that your dirty, funky, old shoes will one day beautify the earth.
I want some!

Lion King

Remember who you are...

I'm so excited for the Disney's re-release of The Lion King.
My fondest memory of The Lion King was seeing it in Sydney at IMAX, Darling Harbour.
I distinctly remember the screen being so big that I had to look up with Simba
when he was looking up to Mufasa in the clouds. I felt like I was there with him.
I can't wait to relive that experience.

The Wolves Within

A Cherokee Legend

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life: "A fight is going on inside me," he said,

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
